Real Stories Behind Every Frame

Five years of teaching film editing through hands-on experience

We started neural-cortex because we kept meeting talented people who struggled with editing software but had incredible creative vision. Traditional courses taught buttons and menus, but students left without understanding the rhythm and flow that makes great films.

So we built something different – a place where you learn by cutting real footage, making actual decisions, and understanding why certain edits work better than others.

How We Got Here

From frustrated film students to creating an approach that actually works

2020
The Problem We Couldn't Ignore
After working with dozens of film graduates, we noticed the same gap everywhere. People knew which buttons to press but couldn't tell a story through cuts. Technical skills without editorial instinct.
2021
First Real Experiments
We started small – taking raw footage from actual film shoots and walking people through real editing decisions. Instead of teaching tools, we taught choices. The results surprised everyone.
2023
Finding Our Approach
We developed a method that combines technical training with editorial decision-making. Students work on projects that mirror real production scenarios, building both skills and creative judgment simultaneously.
2025
Proven Results
Our alumni work across Taiwan's film and media industry. They tell us the difference wasn't just learning software – it was learning to think like an editor from day one.

What Makes Us Different

We believe good editing comes from understanding story structure, not just mastering tools

Real Footage, Real Decisions

Every lesson uses actual film clips with real constraints. You learn to work with what you have, make creative choices under pressure, and develop the problem-solving skills that separate good editors from great ones.

Editorial Thinking First

Before touching any software, we teach you to see the story structure within raw footage. This foundation changes everything – suddenly technical skills serve creative vision instead of the other way around.

Industry-Standard Workflow

Our projects mirror actual production environments. You work with proper file organization, deadline constraints, and feedback cycles that prepare you for professional editing rooms.

Astrid Vanhanen
Lead Film Editor & Curriculum Director
Fifteen years cutting everything from documentaries to commercial work. Astrid spent three years in post-production houses across Asia before realizing that most editing education missed the crucial link between technical skills and storytelling instinct. She designed our curriculum around the editing decisions that actually matter in professional work.
